Spicy Tilapia
By Nani

Ingredients
- 1-2 lbs tilapia or halibut fish fillet
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- 2 tomatoes
- 3-4 green chilli slit lengthwise
- 1-2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1-2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp cumin/coriander powder
- 2-3 tsp Shan fish masala
- 2 tbs oil
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
RECIPE
- Wash the fish fillets thoroughly and set aside.
- Blend garlic, 2 green chillis, tomato, and cilantro. Use little to no water. The consistency should be paste-like, not runny. Add in red chilli powder, paprika, Shan Fish Masala, salt, cumin/coriander powder, and turmeric powder.
- Marinate the fish in this mixture. Leave aside for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Lift the fish so that excess liquid does not spill into the pan. Scrape off some masala if needed.
- Fry the fish on both sides carefully. Set aside.
- Remove blackened masala from the pan. Add a little more oil, then stir in the remaining mixture. Add more Shan Fish Masala (to taste), lemon juice, and green chillies.
- Sauté until the mixture is well combined and the garlic scent has diminished.
- Generously cover the fish with the prepared masala. Garnish with green onion, cilantro, and green chilli slit lengthwise. Serve hot.
