Mix Dal


Mixed lentil curry

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp toor dal
  • 3 tbsp chana dal
  • 3 tbsp moong dal
  • 3 tbsp masoor red dal
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tomato, chopped fine
  • 1-2 green chili, sliced
  • 1 tsp cumin/coriander powder
  • 2 tsp red chili
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbs oil
  • 3 tbps fried onion
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ½ Knorr chicken cube
  • 3 tsp Shaan Dal Masala
  • 1 Knorr chicken cube
  • 2-3 cup water
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Salt to taste

RECIPE

  1. In a pot, heat oil and sauté ginger-garlic paste.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and continue stirring.
  3. Then add fried onions, cumin-coriander powder, turmeric powder, Knorr chicken cube, and red chili powder. Stir well to combine.
  4. After a minute, add the dals along with half a finger’s depth of water.
  5. Cook in an Instant Pot (14 minutes) or pressure cooker until the dals are soft and tender.
  6. Mash the dals using a hand beater or spatula.
  7. Add Shaan dal masala, lemon juice, and green chili. Adjust salt to taste. Continue cooking for another 30 minutes.
  8. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

NOTES

Optional:

  1. Optional step for tadka: In a separate pan, sauté sliced garlic, 1 tsp red chili powder, and fried onion. Pour the sizzling mixture (tadka) into the dal before serving.
