Potatoes in mustard seed

Ingredients

  • 5-6 potatoes, boiled and cubed small
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seed
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 3-4 curry leaves
  • 1 tbs oil
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish
  • Salt to taste

RECIPE

  1. Boil potatoes for 30 minutes. Peel, make small cubes, and set aside. 
  2. Heat oil in a pot or pan.
  3. Add in mustard seed and cumin seeds, and wait for them to splutter.
  4. Add curry leaves and green chilies, and wait for them to crackle.
  5. Add potatoes, salt, cilantro,o and turmeric.
  6. Cook for 15-20 minutes on low heat and covered.
  7. Add in lemon juice and give it a good stir.
  8. Garish with cilantro and serve with roti or poori.

NOTES

Optional:

  1. Tip: For best results, make the potato cubes as small as possible.
  2. Optional: You can also make this dish without boiling the potatoes. Simply add ½ cup of water after adding the potatoes to the pot.
